DARK DON READY TO REV–UP KARTING ARENA

To field 5–kart team including two promising girls Alisha and Mira

Hyderabad, June 11: After its stupendous success at the JK Tyre National Formula Car Racing Championship, Dark Don Racing is set to take a plunge into karting by fielding a strong five–kart team in the 10th edition of the JK Tyre National Rotax Max karting Championship. The season begins at Hyderabad’s Lahari Resorts on June 15.

Talented Bengaluru boy Kush Maini, who is currently second overall in the WSK Masters Championship, will represent Dark Don in Junior class, while Chandigarh’s Divijraj Thakran and New Delhi’s Rahil Kochhar will compete in the Senior and Micro Max classes respectively.

The team also comprises two promising girls Alisha Abdullah and Mira Erda. Alisha, the only Indian girl to compete in different forms of racing, is a household name in Indian motorsport. She will spearhead Dark Don’s campaign in Senior class. The 12–year–old Erda is an up and coming racer from Vadodara and has already made a name for herself in the karting arena with some impressive drives last year.

Dark Don Racing, a Chennai–based team, made sensational debut in the 2012 JK Tyre National Racing Championship by winning both the Formula 4 drivers´ and team titles. Afsar Riyaz E, the team owner, says Dark Don’s entry into karting is a part of their talent nurturing process. “Karting is a stepping stone for single–seater racing. Our plan is to shape and absorb the talented drivers to our Formula car team. JK Tyre karting championship is the only entry–level series which has produced many a champion drivers. O hope, Dark Don will unearth some gems at the end of this season,” said Afsar adding that the team’s aim is to stamp their authority in all the three classes.

In an effort  to provide the drivers with the world–class machine, Dark Don has tied up with Tony Kart, an Italian giants in producing racing kart chassis. The likes of Michael Schumacher and Jarno Trulli grew up learning the art of racing in karts produced by Tony.

Afsar said all Dark Don karts have been imported from Singapore, the Asian base of the Italian brand.
